The difference is in the wait
Most botanical extracts are made with heat. Heat is faster and cheaper, and it is also the most efficient way to destroy the delicate plant compounds that make a botanical worth using in the first place. homeApothec uses cold maceration instead — botanicals are submerged in a glycerite base and left to infuse for 8 weeks without heat or distillation. The process is slow by design. What emerges preserves the heat-sensitive compounds most botanicals lose: a more active, more concentrated formula — and one gentle enough for skin that can't afford any more aggravation.
